Have you ever fantasized about surfing Hawaii 50 years ago or San Juan del Sur 20 years ago? Riding a world-class wave with just a few friends no one paddling around you and no long boards bouncing off your head; just great surf, a calm environment, outstanding food and drink. Perhaps articles on surf and real estate, like "Nicaraguan Land Grab" in Surfers Journal, have led you to believe that uncrowded surf has vanished from this planet. It still exists in Northern Nicaragua at Nicaragua Escape LLC Surf Lodge in Aserradores, (you won’t find it on most maps, but it’s in the northwest corner of Nicaragua).
We are located less than one hour north of the city Chinandega, at Aserradores beach. The easiest way to find us is to follow the signs for Aserradores and Marina Puesta del Sol. Turn left at the sign for Nicaragua Escape LLC - Sarita's Oasis and follow the signs.

Cofounder and surfer, Bodhi Portugal, had spent years surfing and wind surfing in Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the Caribbean, Indonesia, Hawaii and Spain when he found himself surfing Playa Maderas in San Juan Del Sur, not enjoying the crowded waves. He heard a rumor of a small fishing village to the north – that was 5 years ago and much has happened since then. Bodhi moved there because of the world class waves and the beauty of the area. There was also a deepwater estuary with a developing five star resort, Marina Puesta Del Sol.
Bodhi saw the potential for growth in the area. Surfers and land hunters would not be far behind him. So he purchased some property and spent the next 3 years weaving his way through the maze of obstacles that one encounters when starting a business in a Central American country. The name of the business has changed from www.MaderasNegras.com to www.NicaraguaEscapeLLC.com and has gone beyond just selling real estate to a surf lodge, a restaurant that offers 5 star meals, incredible drinks along with Internet service. All situated in a rural environment. They also act as construction facilitators for buyers from outside the area.
